A delicious quest

This summer, The Lancaster Ledger set out to answer one question with the seriousness it deserves: who makes the best breakfast sandwich in Lancaster County? Readers sent in nominations through our form, email replies, and Instagram comments. The nominations became a Top 20. Then we ate our way through the list, one egg-and-cheese at a time, and judged every sandwich by the same rules. Here's how it ended.

The winner of the Breakfast Quest. The winning order was the bacon, egg, and cheese on an everything bagel. The bagel came out perfect and crispy, a genuinely great bagel. And the bacon sealed it: just a little bit of sweetness to it, nice and buttery, a great bite from the first one to the last. Savoy Truffle took the crown against 19 challengers from every corner of the county. All hail the champion.
