8 county farms are taking Thanksgiving turkey orders

Thanksgiving is Nov. 26 this year, and LancasterOnline rounded up eight Lancaster County farms and market stands that sell local turkeys. Esbenshade Turkey Farm in Ronks, which dates to 1858, sells fresh, cage-free broad-breasted whites from 10 to 35 pounds, with prices from $3.77 a pound. Order online and bring cash or a check, because they don't take cards at pickup.

For a pasture-raised bird, Nature Ridge Farm on Strasburg Pike charges $4.50 to $4.70 a pound, Livengood Family Farm on Morningside Drive is $6.40 with a deposit, and Meadow Run Farm in Lititz is $6.50. Lindenhof Farm in Kirkwood also raises heritage turkeys at $11.45 a pound and stops taking preorders Nov. 18 at noon. Esbenshade has been doing this for 168 years, so they'll probably handle the pickup line better than you'll handle carving.

Sight & Sound's "Joshua" comes to movie screens Thursday

Sight & Sound filmed a performance of "Joshua," its current show about the Israelites taking the Promised Land, with Carl Anderson as Joshua and Hope Ogilvie as Rahab, and edited it into a feature film. It opens in theaters Thursday. Locally, Regal Manor on Millersville Pike shows it Thursday at 2, 5:10 and 8:20 PM, and Penn Cinema in Lititz has Thursday shows at 2 and 7:45 PM, with showings scheduled through Nov. 12.

Sight & Sound did the same with "Daniel" and "Noah," which both played in theaters across the country. The stage version keeps running in Strasburg through Dec. 31. If you've been meaning to see it and haven't made the drive, a movie ticket is the cheaper way in.
