Jimmy Juice lands on King Street. Plus, Hazel's Hunt debuts.
The Digest
Jimmy Juice is moving onto King Street
Jimmy Juice is taking over 11 W. King St., the downtown storefront Foxduck called home, and turning it into a retail store and tasting room. The plan: shelves of their Lancaster-made canned cocktails, a line of custom-designed clothing, and doors open in time for First Friday on August 7. Owners Joe Devoy and Dana Paparo started Jimmy Juice at Sickman's Mill in Conestoga Township, moved production to a bigger facility near Millersville as the cans took off, and recently began distilling whiskey back in Conestoga. Running the King Street shop: Wes Keates, Foxduck's former owner, who never left the block.
That corner didn't stay quiet for long. See you there next Friday.

HAZEL'S HUNT: OOLA BOWLS
New section alert. Hazel's Hunt is exactly what it sounds like: Hazel and I are hunting down the best things in Lancaster County, one stop at a time, and reporting back. She's seven. Her standards are higher than mine.
First up, an icon.
The find: Oola Bowls (Lancaster Central Market, 23 N. Market St.).
If you've walked Central Market on a Saturday, you've seen the line. Oola launched at the Celebrate Lancaster festival in June 2018, after founders Joe Ferderbar and Brock Snider discovered açaí bowls on separate vacations, came home with the same idea, and started with a food truck and a Market stand. Eight years later, the Lancaster original has grown to 22 stores across five states with more than 75 franchises sold and a westward expansion underway. Not bad for a Market stand.
The review: Oola set us up with a bowl on the house, and Hazel got to work. The verdict was never in doubt. For her, it's all about the açaí. She loves it so much she sometimes orders the açaí base straight, no toppings, and honestly, she's onto something. Creamy, cold, and somehow both a treat and breakfast. Oola is always a stop for us when we hit Market, and it's not leaving the rotation.
