36 kid-run businesses take over Binns Park tomorrow, plus a full weekend of events and live music

Kidpreneur Day Is Tomorrow

Lancaster Kidpreneur Day | Saturday, October 10 | 10 AM to 1 PM | Binns Park, 120 N. Queen St., Lancaster | Free to come shop

Tomorrow more than 45 kids run 36 businesses in the middle of the city. They made the stuff, set the prices, and they talk to every customer themselves. Every dollar they earn goes home with them.

What you'll find

Thea, 10, runs a slime bar where you pick the base, the color, the scent and the mix-ins yourself. Wesley, 10, is selling pumpkins, Indian corn, gourds and corn stalks out of his own eight gardens. Matt, 6, will help you build your own LEGO minifigure, and the three kids at M.O.D Art Corner are making custom t-shirts on the spot and drawing live caricatures. Roah, 7, has been collecting gemstones for two years and wants to be a geologist. Ethan, 11, is selling firewood and kindling bundles. Hazel, 7, is running Gotta Sip Em All Cafe, a Pokémon-themed cafe.

There are also crocheted animals, homemade dog treats, 3D-printed fidgets, paintings, bracelets in just about every color, and a carnival booth where you play a game to win a prize.

How the judging works

Local business owners walk the park from 10 to noon and score every booth, by age group, in three categories: Most Original Business Idea, Highest Business Potential and Best Presentation. The winners get cash prizes, announced at 12:45. You get a say too. Grab a program and scan the code inside to vote for the People's Choice award.

How to help

Come to Binns Park, 120 N. Queen St., any time from 10 AM to 1 PM, and bring some friends.

Share our Kidpreneur Day post on Instagram and Facebook so more people know to come out.

Bring some cash in small bills, and ask them about their business before you buy.

Thank you to our sponsors

Lancaster Kidpreneur Day is presented by Shirk Pest Solutions, with JK Mechanical, Hinkle Insurance Agency, fix (IT) chix and Signarama, which donated every sign you will see in the park. Every one of them is a Lancaster County business that put money or materials behind a morning for local kids. Give them your business when you get the chance.
