Breakfast Quest: Early Contenders
The tour is on. I've been eating my way through your Top 19 nominations one egg-and-cheese at a time, and I can report there are already a few clear front-runners. Am I naming them today? Absolutely not. A quest needs suspense.
What I can offer is the behind-the-scenes feed. Sandwich sightings, first bites, and the occasional grease-stained field note are going up on social as the tour rolls on. Follow along here:

Next Wednesday, the winner. Somebody's breakfast sandwich is about to become famous.
Pizzeria 211 opens on Lemon Street July 31
Pizzeria 211 has an opening date for its first standalone shop: Friday, July 31 at 601 W. Lemon St., the former home of The Sugar Bowl (still going strong in Millersville). Owner Matt Shultz grew up in Millersville, started testing pizza recipes at house number 211 in Philadelphia, then moved home and has been slinging pies in Lancaster since 2022, most recently at Southern Market. The new spot serves his hand-tossed classics and Detroit-style pan pizza, that airy rectangular pie with cheese baked to the edges, plus cheesesteaks new to the Lemon Street menu. Hours: 11 AM to 9 PM Wednesday through Saturday, noon to 8 PM Sunday.
211 is a friend of the newsletter and we love these guys. It's the best slice of pizza in the city, and that is not up for debate. (Or is it? A Best Pizza in Lancaster quest has a certain ring to it. Someday.)
