Lancaster Kidpreneur Day Is Open For Registration

Back in July we asked if you knew a kid who would want to run a business for a day. A lot of you loved the idea, and a few of you found us the venue. Here it is, with a date and a place.

Lancaster Kidpreneur Day is Saturday, October 10, from 10 AM to 1 PM at Binns Park, 123 N. Queen St. in downtown Lancaster.

A kid signs up for a space, brings something to sell, and sells it to whoever walks by. They can make it, bake it, grow it, or buy it and resell it. They keep every dollar they earn. This is not a fundraiser and no organization takes a cut.

Local business owners judge the booths and hand out cash prizes by age group in three categories:

Most Original Business Idea for the concept nobody else thought of.

Highest Business Potential for the one you would actually invest in, judged on pricing, product and how they talk to a customer.

Best Presentation for the booth that pulls you across the park.

Spaces are $25 and it is open to ages 6 to 14. We only have room for 20 spaces this year, so if your kid wants one, do not sit on it. Families bring their own table, chairs, canopy and signage. Electricity at the park is limited, so tell us if you need power and we will see what we can do.

Kids can sell food and drinks, but anyone selling food or beverage must work with the Lancaster City Health Department to get the required permits. Nothing can be made at home, it has to come out of a licensed kitchen, and the permit has to be filed at least two weeks ahead. The health department's requirements are on the event page in their own words, with the application itself, so you can decide before you commit to it.

Two other ways to be part of it:

Judge. We are looking for local business owners to judge. If you are a business owner, or want to recommend or connect us to one, please reach out.

Sponsor it. If you love entrepreneurship and want to be involved in cultivating entrepreneurship in local youth, we would love to work with you on this event. Reply and we will send the details.
